To complete your experience before or after visiting El Arco, we will tell you some interesting facts that you may not have known about this famous rock formation.
The end of the earth
In addition to being called “The arch” another of its names is “the end of the earth”, this because it is located at the final tip of the Baja California peninsula and after this rock formation only the Pacific Ocean remains.

Special phenomenon
Every once in a while, a phenomenon occurs with the tide in this area, as the current moves, revealing the beach below El Arco. This usually appears in very variable time, because sometimes it happens years in a row and in others it can take up to four years to happen.
Millions of years
Many geologists have studied this formation and it is believed to be a rock that is several kilometers deep and may be at least 12 to 15 million years old. It is a granite rock formation, which was eroded over time and obtained the arch shape that we know.
Species habitat
El Arco is located between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, so hundreds of marine species live under the surface of this place, some examples that we can see are parrot fish, puffer fish, guitar fish, turtles, humpback whales in their season and sea lions.

Sand waterfalls
In the Flora and Fauna Protection Area are these fascinating sand waterfalls, just below the sea Lovers beach and El Dedo de Neptuno. This is caused by the union of the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, creating marine currents that cause soil erosion and thus moving large amounts of sand in the form of a waterfall.
We invite you not to miss out on the natural beauty of the city and experience its fantastic culture, also remember that if you want to live the experience of going on a boat to get to know this beautiful place you can count on our tours and activities that we have for you or your family.
